Vernie E. Buis

Vernie Eugene Buis of Cloverdale Indiana passed away January 23, 2024 in his home.  He was born July

12, 1954 in Greencastle and was the son of the late Eugene (ChicK) Buis and Norvella Ilene (Delp)

Goodman.

He was living his retired life and got the greatest enjoyment in life in hunting turkey and deer and being

outdoors.  He was an avid Star Trek fan and attended many conventions and had a great collection of

Star Trek memorabilia.  He was a proud Peepaw- as his grandchildren lovingly referred to him- and loved

his dogs dearly.  

He is survived by his wife Leah Jo (Gaston) Buis of 45 years, Cloverdale; his daughter Belinda Jo Buis and

her children Nicholai Scott Hall and Hunter Grace Hall; his son Branden Vernon Buis, Branden’s fiancée

Crystal Nauman and their children Justice Nauman, Trysta Nauman and Drew Nauman; his brothers

Darrell L. Goodman and wife Joyce and Timothy W. Goodman and Timothy’s wife Renee; his sister Cheryl

McCammack, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Eugene (Chick) Buis, his mother Norvella Ilene (Delp) Goodman,

brother Roger K Goodman and son in-law Scott Patrick Hall. 

Every life comes to an end when time demands it. Loss of life is to be

mourned but only if the life was wasted. -Mr. Spock
