Tom Madden, born on January 13, 1954, peacefully passed away in his home on February 16, 2024. His passing marks the end of a life well-lived, filled with dedication, strength, and a legacy that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him.
Tom, a devoted man of God, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, touched the lives of many with his unwavering commitment, determination, and a willingness to do anything to help those in need. He is survived by his wife, Lorie Madden (Garman), five children: Brian Madden, Heather Madden, Brandon Madden, Thomas (Ashley) Madden, and Karla (Drew) Harris. Additionally, Tom was a beloved stepfather to Chris (Ali) Haines, Jeffery (Corinna) Haines, Jeremy Haines, Brandon Draper, and Bridget (Jordan) Owen. Tom's devotion extended to his 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, with a special focus on raising his great-grandchild, Skylynn Haines. His commitment to family was a testament to the selflessness and strength that defined his character.
For a significant portion of his life, Tom dedicated himself to the demanding world of coal mining. He worked tirelessly at various Illinois mines, including American Coal Company, Ziegler Coal Company, and Black Beauty Coal Company. His unwavering work ethic continued at IAC Greencastle as a Production Supervisor until his well-deserved retirement, demonstrating a consistent drive and passion throughout his career.
Born to Leonard and Wanda Madden, Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Carol Hill, brother Ronald Dean Madden, and granddaughter Ivy Haines. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who cherished him, but his memory will continue to live on through the stories shared by family and friends.
Services to celebrate Tom's life will be held at Faith Baptist Church in Cloverdale, IN, on Tuesday, February 20th, from 3-5 pm with a celebration of life beginning at 5:00pm. A reception will follow at the church, where family and friends are welcome to stay and share their memories. In honoring Tom's casual and laid-back nature, the family kindly requests casual attire for the visitation
