David W. Johnson

David W. Johnson, of Greencastle, formerly of Cloverdale passed away on April 12, 2026.

He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on November 30, 1941, to the late Ray and Elinor (Schwier) Johnson.  He married Joyce (Duncan)Johnson October 7th, 1961 and she survives.

David is survived by his children: Pam Bowman and husband Jamie; Keith Johnson and wife Lori; Angie Haltom and husband Rob; Greg Johnson and wife Karen; and David Johnson and wife JaDeen. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Surviving siblings include Larry Johnson and wife Joan; Jane Cheshire; Jerry Johnson and wife Sue; Phillip Johnson and wife Theresa; and Kevin Johnson and wife Lori. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Jana Grimes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his eldest son, Dennis Lee Johnson, and his son-in-law, Bruce Grimes.

David was a devout member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Greencastle and served his community for many years through the Lions Club.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Whitaker Funeral Home in Cloverdale.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 202 E. Washington St., Greencastle, Indiana 46135.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the David and Joyce Johnson family endowment at the Putnam County Community Foundation, or to St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
